Archaeologist passionate about application of 3D documentation, remote sensing and GIS in /underwater archaeology.

Biography

Matko Čvrljak graduated from the University of Zadar, obtaining the MA degree in archaeology with special emphases in maritime archaeology. During his studies and professional work, he was actively involved in numerous archaeological projects in Croatia and abroad. After improving his knowledge and skills at Nautical Archaeology Program of Texas A&M University, he was admitted to the internship at the Viking Ship Museum in Roskilde, Denmark. From 2016 to 2018, he worked as the maritime archaeologist in the Viking Ship Museum, and the Strandingsmuseum St. George in Thorsminde, Denmark. In 2019 he was employed as an archaeologist responsible for 3D documentation and GIS at the Museum Lolland-Falster in Denmark, working on the Femern Belt Project.
His main research interest is the application of 3D documentation, remote sensing and GIS in archaeology/underwater archaeology. He is associated researcher of the Archaeology of Adriatic Shipbuilding and Seafaring Project, and an active member of the Institute for Maritime Heritage ARS NAUTICA.

From January 2020 he is employed at Oikon Ltd.-Institute for applied Ecology.
